Skin Tips for a Beautiful Tan

By Tammy Worthington

Tanning booths have become the number one way for people to keep that year round tanned look. Although evidence compiled over the last few years has shown conclusively just how dangerous it is to lay out in the sun, new methods are being used to give the same effect. One of the choices people are now making is to go to a salon that offers spray tanning for an almost instant, safe effect. There are many fake tan creams available but a spray gives a much more even looking tan and is less likely to cause streaking.

There are now home spray tanning systems available but these may not be the easiest to use on your own although regular users they could save money in time. The methods of artificially creating this effect may differ but a guide to getting a good finish works with them all. First off, you should exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin. This can stop the situation where dead skin cells gradually drop off leaving paler patches of skin which immediately tells people you have a fake tan.

To complete this part of the preparation, the skin needs to be moist and ready to accept the tan so a good skin moisturizer will need to be applied all over. Before applying a tanning agent, whether bottle or cream, ensure you are wearing gloves or the orange palms that will follow will give the game away. Also, apply lighter coats on the joints of your fingers, your knees, and your elbows as these areas will appear darker if you do not and the same applies to your feet. After a spray tanning application you will want to use a towel to remove any excess that may drip and run.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. The problem you will have afterwards during this drying time is what to wear because if you wear something expensive that you like, it will probably become stained and won't come off.

These agents are notoriously good at marking clothing once they have been applied so you are advised to be careful how soon you get ready afterwards and what you intend to wear. The best advice here is to have a change of clothing that is darker than the color of the tan as this way it will not notice. Armed with this information it should be easier to have a fake tan that is safe and available all year round without anyone knowing what it is you are doing. - 15438
