Cheetah Print Trends

By Jason Moorstedt

Trends come and go in the world of fashion, and its sometimes hard to know what things have left or when theyll be back. Cheetah print has been a borderline fashion statement for a long time, absolutely loved by some and hated by others; but its growing in popularity, and moving into center stage. Added here or there, cheetah print promises to give spice to any look, but be careful " add too much and your eyes wont be able to handle it!

Cheetah print makes a particular and strong sort of statement, so make sure you use it accordingly. Go for it if youre point is bold and different, but if youre hoping for calm and collected, try something else. Cheetah print isnt just about clothes, and here are some dos and donts for this animal pattern:

- The number one rule is always not to overdo it. Because the cheetah print can be overwhelming, its important not to overuse it, or to mix it with other bold prints and patterns. If you do, youll get a noisy, confused look.

- Newer cheetah prints come in different colors, and each color says a different thing. A bright pink is feminine and fun, a green is energetic, and the classic yellow or orange is (relatively) more toned down. The same as above goes for different colored-prints: dont mix them!

- Believe it or not, cheetah prints can be classy and chic. Make sure the fabrics wildness is tamed by a sophisticated style. Go for a floor-length gown with simple jewelry, or a solid colored outfit with a sleek cheetah scarf.

- If youre looking to match a cheetah print with certain colors but are afraid it wont work, consider getting a different colored print. Besides the classic orange and yellow based prints, you can find bright pink and purple cheetah patterns, among others. These can be incorporated into your wardrobe, or into a rooms dcor, as curtains, cushions, or a rug.

- Although traditional cheetah print comes in a base of yellow or orange, it can be found in a range of colors. Again, consider what you are trying to say with the piece, and choose a color accordingly. A yellow or orange print can be classy, while a bright pink or blue is more fun and playful.

Finally, just because cheetah print is in doesnt mean its for you. Dont force yourself into trends because you think it will validate you; the best way to be validated is by going with trends and colors that feel right for you. - 15438
