Using Inversion Tables To Relinquish Pains Of The Back

By Chris Channing

An inversion table is an object used in alternative medicine to help relieve the aching pains of the back. Inversion tables are considered to be safe devices, so long as certain health complications aren't present. Their use in back pain therapy has been tested, tried, and true- making for a great investment.

The vertabrae of the back are usually squished together while going through an average day. The discs between them can become worn out or the vertabrae can even grind on nerve endings, resulting in much back pain. An inversion table helps in this instance, since it can help separate the vertabrae in a safe method, allowing for relief as the vertabrae decrease pressure on other vertrabrae or nerve endings.

Muscles in the back are another source of back pains. When muscles aren't flexible enough to stretch correctly, this results in pulled muscles or general back pain. Inversion table therapy excels in this case, as it gently stretches out muscles. This is excellent news for those with bad posture, since bad posture is the number one cause of back pain that can be easily fixed. Of course, working on better posture is another good solution.

Blood flow is also increased as the user of an inversion table stays on the device for an extended period of time. Blood flow allows mental alertness, helps expand blood vessels to promote good circulation, and tends to leave a feeling of energy afterwards. All of these benefits are well worth having, proving inversion tables aren't just for back pains.

To help the process along, some like to use warming packs or small massagers during the inversion table usage. Doing so allows the back to relax even further, and promotes expansion of blood vessels to again give a benefit to increased blood flow. Having someone else give a massage immediately before or after using an inversion table will also help the user to reap further relief from back pain.

Those with chronic back pain, any health conditions, or other worries should consult a doctor before planning to use an inversion table for back pain. It's never a bad time to get a second opinion, since some types of complications such as high blood pressure may render some effects of the inversion table useless. A local general doctor will be able to tell users if they are fit to use such devices or not.

Closing Comments

Obtaining the right inversion table usually requires asking around. Check with friends or employees at health stores to see if they have ever used such devices. If not, going online and reading user reviews is always the next best option. But, as always, consul a general physician before purchasing one, as health risks may arise otherewise. - 15438
