Golf Cages: You Can Practice Anywhere

By John DiMillo

61.1 million people are enjoying the game of golf worldwide. That means a lot of us enjoying the game and working on improving our game. For most of us the golf season only lasts from April to October. The rest of the year we're moaning because the weather is too cold, rainy or even snowy.

You can always escape the cold weather by hopping a plane to Florida, Arizona, or Nevada. But most of us have to plan those trips and can't just hop on a plane to play a round. Would be nice though...But we can keep our golf skills in good form even during the off season.

As long as you can find some open space you can get in some quality practice time. And this will even work if there's snow on the ground.

If you want to practice during the "off" season you're going to need some tools to help out. A good golf net is important. This way you can work on your swing without having to chase the ball across an open field or in your garage.

When you combine the golf net with a golf practice mat you're ready to practice. Pick a golf practice mat where you can use your own tees. This will give a similar feel to being on a real golf course. With the simulated grass of the practice mat your experience will be similar when using your driver or irons.

By combining a golf practice mat with your golf net or cage and you'll have the best practice set-up. A specialty mat can mimic the different positions of the ball. You can practice with your wedge in uphill, downhill or side of hill positions. With the combination you can best use your time. No ball chasing but stroke practice.

Things To Look For When Buying A Golf Net Or Golf Cage

Golf nets offer you the ability to practice your drive into a stationary net. This saves you time with ball retrieval and lets you focus on your shots. When buying a golf net you want one that is durable and easy to assemble.

Look for a net which folds easily and pops up when opened. The idea is to practice your game not spend time assembling the cage. Spend your time working on your game not practicing with a screwdriver.

Golf cages combine durability and increased protection. The design lets you protect your neighbors from stray balls in their back yards. In addition you want a golf cage that has UV protection and mildew resistant. That way no matter how much the sun shines or the rains fall your golf cage will stay in good condition.

Find a golf cage which is easy to put up. That is unless you want to spend your practice time putting something together. Many of the better golf cages uses snap in poles and easy twist eye bolts. Make your choice an easy to set up golf cage and you'll find yourself practicing your shots frequently. Otherwise you'll find excuses not to practice.

So don't worry about the snow or cold. You'll still be able to get in some good practice time. Set up your golf cage and practice mat and work on your game. Then when golf season comes around you'll be the one with the secret smile. Your game won't be as rusty as those golfers who chose not to practice. - 15438
