What To Expect Spinal Decompression Therapy

By Randall Pruitt, DC, DACNB, DAAPM, MUAC, CES-NASM

The use of decompression for lower back pain is not entirely new, however some of the technology utilized and that is becoming more popular is somewhat recent. For example the use of specialized tables for decompression in the Phoenix area that many Arizona doctors are embracing such as the DRX9000.

In Arizona doctors often recommended traction as a treatment for back and neck pain to their patients who where suffering. In the greater Phoenix area it was quite common. With newer developments in the application of traction a new science called spinal decompression was developed, this technology by far surpasses the results once obtained with simple traction.

If you're getting herniated disc treatments in Scottsdale, Phoenix or even smaller towns in Arizona and you want to try spinal decompression technology like the drx9000, Arizona doctors in your area should be able to refer you for the therapy.

The first thing you'll notice is that the table looks very space age, not just in the design of the table you lie down on, but in the column attached that holds the brains of the table. A touch-screen computer system controls the spinal decompression and carefully monitors your relaxation and resistance levels to the movements you're led through by the table itself.

In Arizona doctors can now offer these tables as a valid and very effective treatment for back and neck pain. The treatment protocol is typically 20 session over 5 weeks. However each person is different and the treatment protocol may vary.

Decompression with the DRX9000 is typically prescribed in 30 minute treatment sessions. Spinal rehabilitation is usually coupled with decompression to deal with the muscle component.

Spinal decompression is a very gentle and effective procedure, and requires no effort from the patient. In fact the patient relaxes while the table does all the work. - 15438
