Are you wondering what acupuncture is and why itas used? Well it is typically a last resort for people who can't seem to find a cure for their pain. Some times it seems like it is the one thing that can in fact alleviate pain and stress when other medication canat do the job.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese method used to resolve many complex medical issues. It was used in conjunction with Chinese herbs and medicines. It still is used this way today. It is a healing process that many claim have improved their life when other traditional medicines could not.

Now you are probably wondering how does acupuncture work? It works by inserting many needles under the skin. These needles are carefully inserted in precise locations on the body and when theyare inserted properly, aches and pain will vanish.

Acupuncture takes time to understand. You must take an acupuncture course before you are able to practice this method. The classes will teach you acupuncture models and the techniques to properly apply the treatment. This is a delicate skill, and without these courses, a person could inflict more pain. Improper placement could damage the bodyas nervous system.

For example, if a person seeks acupuncture to relieve pain in their arm, and sees a person who is not certified and is not trained in the proper techniques, this person could recommend the wrong area. This untrained person could apply acupuncture to the arm and the result is nerve damage to the patients arm leaving them with less feeling for the rest of their life.

The previous example is a perfect reason why only professionals should be used for this risky procedure. The knowledge and experience of a professional is most beneficial to the success of acupuncture. A better feeling of life can be achieved if this Chinese practice is performed correctly.

Recent medical breakthroughs have enabled it to be used for more than just certain ailments. The list of ailments that you can use it for is constantly growing as patients seek alternatives to traditional medicines and healing practices. Today, acupuncture is mostly used for ailments such as: arthritis, back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and also sciatica.
