Kettlebell training, efficient workouts in half the time

By Marcus Martinez

Using your time wisely can drastically change your results from working out. Isolating your muscles cannot yield the same results as more efficient, full-body training.

Kettlebells do just that. Just ask anyone who's used a kettlebell. They can tell you that within a couple of minutes, you're sweating. Exercises like the swing, snatch, and get-up will get your heart pumping and get you into incredible shape. How long does it take? For a beginner, ten minutes a day is all you need, not to mention all you'll be able to do at first.

Popular fitness magazines encourage you to split your workouts down into each body part, however, full body exercises can yield faster results. These exercises include pull-ups, dips, and squats. In addition, using heavy-weights will allow you to build your muscles and increase functional performance.

The workouts listed below can have major effects on your body. Use more weight than you're used to if you want to burn additional calories and increase your functional strength.

Workout 1

1-1: Deadlift 5x5

2-1: Weighted Pull-up 3x5

B2: Weighted Dip-3 sets of 5 reps

C1: Hanging Leg Raise-3x10

3b: Kettlebell or Dumbbell Swing (3x20)

Workout 2

1a: Bench Press (5x5)

2-1: Double Kettlebell,Dumbbell Clean and Jerk 3x6

2b: Renegade Row (3x6)

3-1: Kettlebell,Dumbbell Get-up (Right)

3b: Kettlebell or Dumbbell Get-up (Left Arm)

4a: Jump rope intervals (10 Minutes)

The workouts should be performed every three days, rotating workouts A1 and B1. A healthy diet and one or more cardio routines a week will help you get the best results. The routines will hit every muscle group, including those that would be exercised during isolated exercises.

Using these exercises will save time because they target the same workouts that isolated exercises do. This allows you to build a great body in half the time that most magazine workouts require. Kettlebells, and similar full-body exercises, can give you more bang for the buck. - 15438
